Increasingly, designers and artisans are working together in developing products that aim to enhance cultural sustainability in communities and strengthen social bonds in urban contexts. While such collaborations have great promise, they can also be opportunities for exploitation. To provide designers and artisans with a trusted platform on which to work together, a Code of Practice for Creative Collaborations is currently in development. This code is a platform for promoting collaborations between creators and producers. Its development entails canvassing points of view, gathering experiences and proposing new models for situations where a designer, artist or trader seeks to create works using the skills and knowledge of a craftsperson.

For an outline of the code, please read a keynote presentation at a recent design education conference. More details can be found at the Two Hands Project, which is an incubator for the code.
